A local cactus blooming. Locals call this an Indian Egg cactus. TO be honest I have not witness this cactus hatch anything

We lived in Arizona and everyone told us just wait until the desert blooms. Well it bloomed and I will not exchange it for Ct. anytime soon.

yet it looks as though the flowers are sitting expectantly in a nest. does this have edible fruit, like the dragon fruit plant?

not that I have seen, what looks like a nest is grass growing around the cactus

Lovely! Does it bloom more than once a year? Do the flowers remain open at night?

I am pretty sure it is a one day extravaganza but there is another round of buds emerging

@btroje Do you know who its pollinators are? Can they be cultivated in a garden?

@pixiedust I took one egg from the wild and it is forming a mound of them now ( it is a type of mammillaria cactus)

@pixiedust I havent watched it enough to know what pollinators visit
