What is your favorite Memorial Day activity or tradition?
I got none, I wake up like any other day, without a hangover or a worry to cloud my thought. I am a retired veteran and for me is enough.
In the UK we observe Remembrance Day on November 11th - the anniversary of the armistice which ended WWI.
U.S. holidays are opposite that. Memorial Day used to be known as Decoration Day, a day to remember those who fought for the Union in the Civil War. It became a day to honor all those who died in wartime. Now, it's just an excuse to go to the lake and get drunk. Veterans Day, which we celebrate in November, on Armistice Day, is to honor the living veterans of military service. It hasn't become a drunk fest yet.
Favorite is a stretch, I remember... I don’t have a party.
The morning remembrance ritual.
And of course.... burgers and beer!!!
None really.
I think of how lucky I was and some werent.
Honoring the troops who have died serving this country and defending freedom. Because that's what this day is about.
