We must do away with the absolutely specious notion that everybody has to earn a living. It is a fact today that one in ten thousand of us can make a technological breakthrough capable of supporting all the rest. The youth of today are absolutely right in recognizing this nonsense of earning a living. We keep inventing jobs because of this false idea that everybody has to be employed at some kind of drudgery because, according to Malthusian-Darwinian theory, he must justify his right to exist. So we have inspectors of inspectors & people making instruments for inspectors to inspect inspectors. The true business of people should be to go back to school & think about whatever it was they were thinking about before somebody came along & told them they had to earn a living. “
Richard Buckminster Fuller 1895-1983
What's even worse is now we're essentially being told, 'You have to work, but nobody's actually going to hire you.'
Maybe got lost somewhere..... If I understand correctly then you are saying that earning a living is nonsense? How are you going to pay bills? Mortgage? Transportation?... even luxury stuff like your dream car?.... How would you pay for all those things? Please don't give us social theories, give us concrete actions to prove earning a living is nonsense. Can you, please??
As a result of this social construct we have lost a lot of talented people to the factories. I think we need to place more value on parenting as a job and keep a parent in the home. I also think we need to be supporting people directly instead of donating to agencies. Imagine if we all gave 10% of our income to someone that is doing something we support but does not pay well. We could change this world so quickly by giving to each other instead of expecting the gov. or churches to do it.
What factories? Of all the ones I serviced as a chemical eng.About 60 there are only 21 left.
@Marine Oh sorry if I used an outdated example but I am, pretty sure you got my point.
@CreativelyMe Now I hav.e
@Beach_slim You have a problem with teachers being paid better wages? And why shouldn't churches pay taxes? It's not like they are using the money to help the communities. Also there is a polite way of having a discussion about your opinion and that was not it.
@Beach_slim Our educational system sucks and needs to change but that is NOT the teachers fault.
@Beach_slim Well you certainly throw your opinion out there like it is fact with no rationale for your way of thinking and are extremely condescending so I suppose it would feel like you are surrounded by children since that is the level your debate is at. You attack instead of offering reasons for your opinions. Teachers are not the reason our children do not get a better education that is the educational system itself, and NOT taxing churches just allows them to make profits off the people and no-one is getting the help they need. You are not even having a debate, you are simply shoving your opinion down everyone's throat.
@Beach_slim Well you certainly seem to have all the answers don't you? Those teachers work hard for those "handouts" and have no say in what is taught. I guess we should just fire them all and not bother to teach our children a damn thing huh? Then the teachers will be unemployed, the children will be home alone all day and what exactly will that accomplish? You certainly seem to think you are wise and are comfortable talking down to others so I am done conversing with you. I have no tolerance for arrogance combined with ignorance. Go support the churches somewhere else and spew your hate for teachers instead of the educational system to someone that is simple minded because you have NO valid debate except in your own mind.
