I just moved in to an "Old Folks Home" in Tucson. Two hundred and some residents. About 75% are women. About 75% are pushing a walker. And everyone is old, like me. The staff seems efficient and is always smiling. The food is good and nutritious. They clean my apartment and launder my bedding every week. Lots of planned activities are available, to help occupy our time. Most of the residents seem happy, or at least content. I'v met lots of folks during my three weeks here, but I'm having trouble remembering names. I haven't yet formed any close relationships, except with Charlie, my departed wife's cat. I would enjoy sharing notes with other eighty-ish atheists on Agnostic.com.
I hope you enjoy living there. It sounds nice.
There must be some 80ish atheists here..
(Charlie sounds lovely.)
With 75% as long you can pace a walker you can do okay. They like to cook.
It sounds lovely. I hope you find lots of friends and are happy and healthy!
An assisted living area sounds like a decent place to live when you get to the point that you need it. I had an aunt that lived in one for several years and she was happy there.
I wish you well and success in finding what you are searching for here and in your life.
I am not quite there yet, but good luck with your quest. I hope you find your peeps
