I am so tired, sore and fatigued and its the weekend. I have no energy to do anything fun. I am so wiped out from my job that I am not enjoying living.
I found out some time ago that a job is something you do so you can live, not for a living.
What do you do to recharge and find something interesting to occupy your mind when it seems like your body wants to give out?
Cranky, sensitive, overwrought, and questioning my existence (or choices as it were).
I have a note over my desk that says :
"When you feel yourself becoming angry, resentful, or exhausted,
Pay attention to where you haven't set a healthy boundary"
@Akfishlady atta girl ! We spend way too much time at work, to be miserable doing it.
Do something that you haven’t done but have always wanted to do.
If I were feeling the way you indicate you are, I would think the absolute pinnacle of fun would be an uninterrupted 12 hours of sleep.
I take off my clothes, pour a glass of my favorite beverage, and go spend some time on my deck.
THE picture is beautiful. Can you go there? My suggestion requires more work. I would devote a large amount of time to finding a companion that you could spend the rest of your life with.It is very nice to havesomeone to greet you after a bad day and be concerned aboutyour well being. The reverse is equally important. The older one becomes the nicer it is to havethat loved one ar home.
@Akfishlady That is the problem. I learned to late in life that there more to living than work. I t was a great thing I had a great wife. Two nervious breakdowns finally got my attention.Do not put this off as it is one of the most important events in your life.
I retired at 53. All of my working life was spent investing so I could retire when the opportunity presented itself. During my working years if I did not enjoy the job I had, I did what was necessary to pursue another on. A fatigued body resulted in reading, tv, sleep., after a long soak in a hot bath. Sweet dreams.
Oh dear. I don't know what to say... Can you look for a different job?
I hope you'll be OK. You sound as if you're in a difficult situation.
I enjoy hiking on Saturdays with my youngest son. We always try and go somewhere beautiful. It is a wonderful way to catch up and wind down
I stepped on a cat two days ago, going down a flight of stairs, with my hands full and ended up flying in the air and landing on my (already bad) back. Needless to say, I'm very sore....especially my "tail bone". What I do to recharge is fish and boat. My boys and I also enjoy camping.
A long time ago, my mother encouraged me to be an actor, despite people telling her she shouldn't let me be one. She said that a person has to do what's in their heart, their passion. Perhaps you should try and find out your passion and start doing that. Sometimes I work 14/16 hours a day, but I love what I do and I never feel the way you do.
Take a gentle yoga class. Better yet, find Joint Freeing Series or similar routines to gently exercise your joints.
I found these to be perfect. They can all be done on a chair.
Here is a chair version.
Something repetitive, simple, yet concentration is necessary. I quilt!
I savagely cut back my work in 2001, and further in 2012. But when at the worst, I would make the most of nights, sleep on the beach and such, under the stars listening to the surf. We would rise, watch the sunrise, back home for breakfast and I would drop the kids at school on my way to work. In the middle of the night, work was light years away.
