Remember when people were okay with gifts on their birthdays rather than asking for money for jewellery/similar(not a trip, bills, fun stuff)? Then Christmas... So many gifts to buy and so little personal cash. You can give $20 to a kid but adults want $50+, not strictly said how much but it gets out of hand.
