What do you think is the median age of Agnostic? Why is it that number, and not higher/lower?
I have no idea...but....it's not as difficult for younger atheists/agnostics to meet like-minded people. There are way more of them in that age bracket. Maybe they don't have the need for a site like this?
We’re it so easy. Course I live in a small, conservative city in Texas.
I had typed a response which was super snarky, and it had a lot of swearing in it, but, the caffeine just kicked in and I'm not feeling quite as disdainful toward the
human race right now. So, I deleted it.
You're welcome.
Awww, I would've liked to have read that.
I seem to remember a poll about age in the last few months (I've only been here that long) and it was top-heavy with not too many younger people. Is there a way we could find that -- or just run a poll again if it's a matter of that much interest?
As a greeter, I see a lot of newbies posting for the first time. I noticed that they seem to be much younger , in their 20s. And I see quite a few international members. Great mix!
I went to Google and asked the question and I got this post as the answer. I them posted to that and it did not show up here. So I posted this.
I do not hide my age in general but when this site asked me whether or not to hide my birthdate, i decided to try just being me and not labeling myself as young, old, middle-aged or any other between-ness. on facebook, where i get all political, i see a lot of ageism. lots of people there want everyone over 50 out of government; others decry the outspokenness of the parkland survivors, since apparently they're too young to know anything. neither attitude makes any sense to me. let's see how far we get without knowing each other's physical ages, shall we?
g
I would guess somewhere in the 50's
Most people probably haven't always been agnostic/atheist and it isn't really a philosophy/ideology that requires "joining" like a religion/church.
I mean I have been atheist for over 30 years and never felt the need to join like minds. It is cool but not entirely necessary
The median age of Agnostic is 51/2 months as it was initiated in October 2017.
@DangerDave And he is an English teacher. We are doomed.
My guess is mid-to-late-40's...older for social site, why?
-overall population of people identifying directly with this site's target characteristics is probably very small and older...I think it may generally take years(age), experimentation, and introspection to reach this "spiritual" identification.
-This site is geared mainly to discussion, rather than the more widely popular videos, music, games...perhaps discussion is more sought after by older people.
-I've noticed a lot of angst here regarding religious up-bringing. Older may relate to this more than younger. I don't know that deep thought of belief-systems are a characteristic I apply to our younger people.
I don't think the median age tells us anything much. It's simply the middle number between 18 and 80. It is 48.5 cos you have to be at least 18 to join and most people over 80 don't use a computer (either illiterate or dead).
What is more interesting is what is the specific age group that is using this site.
Oh we can dwell on this one in so many ways. I am sure we can say the data is bounded by limits between 10 and 100 years old. I would like to believe the big chunk of data is somehow close to 30 but who knows......... I find more interesting to ask you, why do you ask?
Interesting as I just went to Google and asked the question. This very link was returned. Trying something else.
I have not seen any statistics on this , but I seem to see a lot of folks in their sixties and seventies here . I rather suspect , if you were raised in a religious environment , you most likely accepted it up to a point , before breaking away and firmly deciding what your current beliefs are . Even after you made your choices , you didn't necessarily find this site right away , after there were other things your life was giving tip priorities to .
Not a clue as I am not sure there is an algorithm that selects the posts I see or if the quantity of posts represents an accurate reflection of the actual age demographics of the users.
