Sooo, after years of having the same cellphone, I am finally deciding to upgrade.
Please do not recommend an iPhone.
FYI:
Any and ALL iPhone suggestions will be ignored and immediately die with me.
I'm sure if it were up to me, I'd still be using my first cellphone (Motorola bag phone) that my parents bought me back in the late 80s! ??
I don't have it, unfortunately. But I still have my Nokia from 1999 and my Motorola Razr from 2007. I'm terrible.
S10 or S10+. I just upgraded from an S8 to the S10, and this thing is BADASS. if you want to know more about it just ask!
BTW they are out of the S10+, nationwide, at multiple carriers until end of May/beginning of June. That's why I got the S10, but I am very happy.
@Geektheist There's really not much difference in the two. I rationalized my + purchase because it was only like ... 3 or 4 bucks more per month, but the processor is the same. I think the only differences are battery size, the slightly larger screen and a weirder front camera. Can't go wrong either way.
Oh me, me! Pick me!
I picked up the S10+ yesterday after years of using an old S7 which I got on replacement from my Note 3 or 4 crapping out on me (breaking and dying somehow).
The S10+ is so dope. So. So dope. Nothing is as user-friendly (see, simple) as Apple's user interface, but they also don't let you customize squat and Apple is a shit company so good call there.
I also had the Razr and it's spiritual predecessor, the V3551 (I think that's what it was called - same software). Those phones would last for a week without a charge. No phone does that anymore, but I can say that I charged this thing up to 80ish percent as soon as I got home yesterday afternoon, and I'm still going strong with no charge right now. Sitting at about 45 percent battery 24 hours later after light to moderate use and playing with all the features.
Buy buy buy buy.
I I've had an iPhone and a Galaxy 7 Edge. Flushed one down the toilet, bounced one off the hood of my car onto the asphalt so now I have an LG Stylo 4. I can do just as much with it as a Samsung 7 Edge and it only cost $230. I never missed the iPhone and can do everything my friends with iPhones can do on my little LG.
My ex just bought my sons galaxy s10’s as second phones to their iPhone X a week or so ago. They are free to switch back and forth as they see fit.
We tried this a couple of years ago and the boys hated the Samsung’s then.. we’ll see how it goes this time around.
Everything is on the cloud for them and easy to move school work, etc between their iPhones, Mac laptops and iPads.
They’ve had iPhones since my eldest was in 4th grade and have never lost, broken or cracked a screen.
Several years ago my ex had three phones to switch between. An iPhone, google and a Samsung.. the iPhone won out and he sold the others on Craig’s list.
Wow lucky children!
I've had dumb phones for a very long time. An auto injury forced a need for me to find offices for various doctors, surgeons, chiropractors, specialists and physical therapists. I needed a smart phone for navigation. I got my Samsung S7 and Otterbox a year and a half ago and have not looked back. My recommendation is to get the same phone as your closest, most patient techie friend.
I think iPhone and android people are divided as much as Dems and Repubs. Lol. For me, I'm an android user and have no interest in the overpriced overhyped designer iPhone. I currently have a Galaxy S8. I am eligible for a free upgrade but will hold on to this one for a while longer.
@BeeHappy BINGO! I hate anything glass!
I’ve been with Google FI for a few years. Android, less expensive, good coverage, very nicely integrated with the Google ecosystem of course. I haven’t upgraded to the new Pixel phones yet, but probably will this year. I avoid Apple products because I don’t like being locked in to their overpriced product line (though I’m typing this on my wonderful lPad Pro).
I can’t recommend one to you, as that would mean recommending Android (the microsoft, blackberry, etc phones aren’t worth considering). Most of my friends have Android phones - I’ve tried them, and that system is the clumsiest, clunkiest, user-unfriendliest os ever. Bar none. I’d rather have a blackberry, and they’re useless. I’m forbidden from mentioning the best, so I’ll leave it there. ???.
I refused to get a smartphone until my daughter added me to her T-Mobile friends and family plan in October 2017.
A raw beginner, I got the smallest, lightest Samsung Galaxy smartphone at T-Mobile. Directionally impaired, I love the GPS. Still, I often leave the phone at home.
Manners. While talking with another person, I never answer or look at my phone. That's extremely rude.
@LiterateHiker I hold good old-fashion manners in regards to making sure I am never on my cellphone while talking to ANYONE. I find it rude as well. Great minds think alike. ❤
The Samsung Galaxies are nice. I have the S8 and will be upgrading to the S10 later this summer. I have had absolutely no problems with my phone. My daughter just got the S10+ and loves it.
There are essentially three types and you said you hated iPhones, do not care for them myself, and the other two are the Blackberry, which I thought had died off, and the Android, which I find does a great job as a smartphone. So, I suppose you are asking what company or number, etc of Android. I am pretty easy and need less than I own. I have owned Samsung made phones for years and would or will continue to do so. I know nothing about the Google phone. Had and LTE and it was okay, a long time ago. So, basically, sorry, check the NET.
with the S10 now out I'd look for an open S9 or S8 that you can card for any service. I bought an S8 when the S9's came out and I've been very happy with it.
Cricket
@Cutiebeauty Isn't that a cellphone carrier? Or is it the name of a new cellphone model?
@SleeplessInTexas it's actually both
@Cutiebeauty Hmm... never heard of it.
iPhone sorry
Easily best phone on the market
Why do you hate them?
Steve Jobs was brilliant
Seriously
Why hate it?
I’m telling you these are amazing pieces of tech knowledge
@darthfaja I never liked Steve Jobs. Still don't. I have my reasons no matter how 'intelligent' he was. There's more to him than what the public knows.
@SleeplessInTexas
Well he’s dead and the phone kicks ass
