LINK Holy Hate: The Far Right’s Radicalization of Religion

A bit dated (2018) but very timely. From the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center).

The U.S. government, media organizations, and political scholars often characterize the “War on Terror” as a clash of civilizations or a battle against radical Islam.

Many academic studies, government reports and news articles have analyzed the role of religion (or the misinterpretation of religious concepts and scripture) in radicalizing Muslims and mobilizing them to wage “Holy War” against their enemies around the globe. Few have discussed how right-wing extremism exploits Christianity and the Bible to radicalize and mobilize its violent adherents toward criminality and terrorism. Much like Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, violent right-wing extremists — who refer to themselves as “Soldiers of Odin,” “Phineas Priests,” or “Holy Warriors” — are also inspired by religious concepts and scriptural interpretations to lash out and kill in the name of religion. Yet very little is said or written about such a connection...

Humans use projection, like the way the right keeps redefining everything, the BLM movement is portrayed as rioters. I see enough aggression in the right wing to suspect organized intentional criminal activities to project blame on peaceful protesters. I am sure misguided or confused people also spontaneously lash out, but that usually requires an event to escalate the mood. This would explain the scale and power of their imaginary enemies like QAnon and some kind of super secret but still runs everything antifa cabal.
They're describing themselves when they do this.
This is the marriage of American Christian Evangelical culture and the Republican party.
We call it Trumpism.

They are more dangerous than Al-Qaeda and home grown with Trump's backing

Of course they don't want to write or say anything. People may possibly wake up.

For some that’s impossible. It’s been drilled into them over a lifetime.

Religion especially theist religion, provides respectability and authority which is based on god. But god does not exist. So god therefore, has no agendas of its own, will never have any quarms about what it is asked to do, or ask for a bigger share of the loot, the rape victims or the honours. He is therefore the perfect criminals hench man. God provides, support without questioning, and authority without cost or responsibility, and can be manipulated or cherry picked to say anything you wish. In other words, god is exactly what every criminal and anti-social psychopath wants, to frighten, and overawe their victims, in exactly the way the criminal wants. So that god and religion become like magnets for the criminal minded sucking them in joyfully.

And now that theist religion's role in formulating and promoting morality, has been taken on by by the modern secular religion, which we call human rights, supported by secular authorities like nation states and international bodies, religion has no where else to go, if it is to continue, except into and ever deeper pairing and mutual symbiosis with organized crime of every sort. Though that is perhaps no more than revealing its true face, that it had all along.

Yes it sickens me to the core that Christianity and Islam in particular see themselves as being 'the One True Religion with the One True God' and MUST make everyone else the same as them and will, so often, use whatever means necessary to force their insane beliefs on everyone else.
And yet the irony is that NOT one of them can even offer up even the slightest iota of proof that THEY are right in their assumptions.

Its the fact that religions does not require you to offer an iota of proof, that makes it attractive to the criminal with insane beliefs. Not to bore you, but my comment above goes deeper.

@Fernapple Exactly because religions know full well that you cannot PROVE a negative.

One gets the feeling that their 'God' is an orange-haired Baby Huey, with a Goering belly, and a Mussolini-sized ego. The only things missing are the Himmler boots, and the Charlie Chaplin moustache.

Islamic terrorist organizations are endorsed by Islamic states. Trump endorses "Holy Warriors" “Soldiers of Odin,” “Phineas Priests,”. He calls them "Very Fine People"
