I wandered thru that group twice. Scary sad. I think their personal identity is too tied up with an ideology they really do not fully understand or even how that ideology came to be.
A conservative professor and a Republican (as in Eisenhower Republican) has been doing twice weekly video chats and a daily letter on FB. Her name is Heather Cox Richardson. When the virus hit and lock downs began she started a history of the Republican party weekly hour video presentation. Her book, How the South Won the Civil War" is great.
I shared her presentation with my trump supporting Christian sister. She emailed me, Cox is to left for me. My sister gets her news from fox and oann. Back in the early 1990's I was visiting (I live on the west coast and the family lives on the east coast) and we and our dad were having a political discussion about reagan/bush senior and their policies. She became angry and was almost in tears and could not defend her position with facts and felt we were picking on her. She finally just got up and left, dad and I looked at each other, I said Oh Well. We had some lunch and continued visiting.

Wait, what? Conservatives that aren’t “Christian “? The nerve of them. I thought being a (bad) Christian was a main ingredient of being listed as conservative?

So the poor conservatives take my attacks on their absurd ideas as being personal attacks? That says a lot about them.

3

Ahhh. the conservatives snowflakes are raising the volume in their whining. Communist my ass! Lol

We have a couple of members from Oklahoma and Texas trying to bring back the John Birch Society days. I thing I hear them humming McCarthy battle hymm of the communist Republic. Lol.

They really hate it when they can't be the abusers.

Lurking around in the Conservative group? I have some jackass keeps calling me a commie. I got pretty nasty back. I'm cool with alternate viewpoints but I'd rather not fight with people.

What that troll means by "commie" is "shame on you for caring about other people".

@LovinLarge I was mean to him too but I was provoked.

@barjoe You were not as mean to him as he was to you. He posts a lot of disinformation. I don't think anyone pays much attention to him anymore.

@barjoe he was completely out of left field.......

I've been blocked by the conservatives too. They really are fragile.

They're fragile because they're incredibly WEAK!

How about You leave your Mom's basement for the first time in several decades & notice that "communists" are no longer current? Or relevant, or even cohesive?

Being abused for what they stand for and will not listen to the people who elected them

BOO HOO. I have zero sympathy for fools who voted for Trump.

As a Conservative, I say that without question Trump will be considered the worst President we ever had.

@Alienbeing You have that right

I lean Conservative, although I have many viewpoints that are Liberal, such as I believe health insurance would be best handled by Medicare for all, and higher tax rates for the upper 1%, and extending FICA tax to at least the first $250,000 of income.

On other subjects Liberals have come back strong. That's fine, although I have seen many instances where no argument was given, just insults. When that happens I'll argue.

That sounds like European politics.

@Petter Please explain briefly how it resembles European politics.

@yvilletom I quote from the comment by @alienbeing

I have many viewpoints that are Liberal, such as I believe health insurance would be best handled by Medicare for all, and higher tax rates for the upper 1%, and extending FICA tax to at least the firt $250,000 of income.

@Petter Thanks. I like those too.

@yvilletom Move to Europe. I have free health care, a state pension, and an equitable tax regime.

@Petter Nothing is free, the healthcare workers who provide you care aren't working for free, it is likely they are funded by taxes.

@Alienbeing Everything, ultimately, is paid by taxes, but there are no greedy corporations and shareholders adding their "margins", alias rip-offs to the price. So ultimately, it is far less costly to individuals. It is free in the sense that everyone pays their premium - and no extra charges

@Petter Everythig is not paid by taxes, and how much is paid by taxes depends on where one lives.

Last it is NOT free in the sense that everyone pays their premium. Some people do not pay taxes, hence they do not pay their premium.

@Alienbeing Not pay taxes? Really? Ever heard of VAT, import duties, cigarette and alcohol tax, fuel tax, etc. No of course not. You are blinded and deafened by fanatical Republicanism. I certainly am not. I do not mind helping others, and being helped when I need it.
Europe is certainly not Communist, but it does have a widespread social conscience, unlike the "dog eat dog" attitude of too many Americans.

@Petter Yes I heard of VAT and all the other taxes you noted. My reference was to Income taxes, and my country. I dn't have a great insight into your country's tax system nor do you have into mine.

Your reference to Commuist is because???? I never even hinted that how healthcare was funded was Communist.

My point was NOTHING is free. Everything has a cost paid by someone or many, hence YOUR statement "I have free healthcare and state pension" is wrong. Somebody paid for it didn't they?

@Alienbeing You are nit-picking.
Just remember, the comment I made to @yvilletom, into which you charged, guns blazing, was about moving to Europe.
As for my health care and state pension, I paid for it during the period before I retired.
... and since I employed people, and paid their social security tax as well as my own, I certainly paid in a lot - at a time when I could afford it.

@Petter Not nit picking at all, I corrected your "freebie" statement. Now even you admit you paid for via taxes while you were working.

The point is that nothig is free, someone must pay for it.

They complain about "communists". From which regime? Russia, China or North Korea. All these leaders are admired by Trump, who wishes he had as much autocratic power.

They really have no clue what communism, socialism and most other political ideologies are about... They just parrot whatever bullshit they heard on fox or oan.... Tizz all they have!

It's good when fascists feel persecuted but beware the admin is one of them.

How do you know?

Thank you!

From what I can see, said admin has blocked me. Shame on her.
