I was brought up in a Christian home and became a Christian at eight years old, as time passed i became less interested but never gave up.
The past year as churches have been closed i have found that Sunday has just became like any other day, i have not missed going to church.
A more important issue that i have questioned is the Christian faith i think that i am becoming an Agnostic, does any one else feel the same way?

He seems to have left the site (unless he blocked me, though I've never interacted with him).

That's a side affect of the lockdown. People are getting smarter.

Hello and welcome to the site.

I think that your first line says it all. Can you really become a Christian at eight ? ! What does an eight year old understand about theology, history, life, and what knowledge did the eight year old you have of the world or any alternate belief systems, to make a judgment ?

Were you really a Christian, or were you just an intellectually abused and indoctrinated child ? And what does it tell you about a belief system, that expects people to join forever at eight, and never points to any alternatives, or asks for any open criticism.

One thing you will find here is a range of opinion on nearly everything, as well as support, for nearly everything.

Yes, you are taught as a Christian that you have free will, which is then denied to you every step of the way.

@NostraDumbass Then they set up a set of impossible guide lines/rules, which you are forced to break. then they tell you to feel guilty, and then they tell you that they have the magic power to make the guilt go away. For a suitable payment in money, arse kissing or sex, of course.

Good scam if you can work it, and they do a lot of the time.

@Fernapple Religion is like pornography. It creates its own need.

I recommend the “Born Again Again” podcast for you. Another good one is “Recovering From Religion”. Or check out Valerie Tarico on You Tube. Also, Richard Carrier. And my personal favorite: Robert Price, a self-professed Christian Atheist and former fellow of the Jesus Institute. Brilliant, funny as Hell, and a prolific author as well.

Welcome. Well, on that, I don't really relate with what you're going through. It's great to see you're finding your own way though.

Welcome to the site Thorn. So the lockdown has at least had one benefit 😉. Which church did you attend ?.

The larger question is, if you stop going to church, how is the preacher going to be able to afford a new Cadillac?

Was Christian for 30 years. Watch this movie. It will really shake your faith. It points out all the contradictions in the Bible that no one talks about in the church.

I found out Jesus is Lucifer the devil.

While I adhere more closely to the site definition of “agnostic” i would certainly agree, for myself anyway. Fwiw most “Christians” are actually firmly in the Cult of Sol Invictus, iow they believe they might one day become immortal, go up to heaven, etc, bc “Jesus died for their sins,” none of which—believe it or not— can be quoted from the Bible.

So, as that might be somewhat hard to believe for you, I’ll leave you with some Bible vv that a believer will never quote at you:
No son of man may die for another’s sins
No one has ever gone up to heaven
There is only One Immortal
All go to the same place
He who seeks to save his (life) soul will lose it
No one knows where they go when they die

etc

I quit going to church in 1982. I think all organized religions should be banned.

I haven't been to church in forty years and I haven't missed it yet. Maybe next year or the year after. Time will tell.

I questioned the Christian faith when I realised that its claims were absurd.

No one day is more better than another. All dates are arbitrary and the current system works to keep the world a bit more in sync. A 5 or 6 day work week is nearly universal - even the majority of modern agriculture, small farms are cute, but a niche and local market. Either Saturday or Sunday is chosen as a religious day in the West and Mid East.

Most everyone on this site feels the same way.
