It means not spending $$$ one doesn't have, on stuff one doesn't need, to impress people one doesn't like. It means doing without in order to do with later. It means self-discipline.

If you want to be really rich today,
Be born in to a rich family
Marry in to a rich family
or most commonly steal everything they have from a rich but stupid family, all of their friends and relatives and then claim you never met them.
