LINK What really drives anti-abortion beliefs? Research suggests it's a matter of sexual strategies

Insightful. Learning the "other" side's position. Their narrow viewpoint, seeped in the fantasy of souls & controlling other folks because god talks to them.

I remember growing up in New Jersey, the women on my street were overly concerned with what ALL the neighbors did. Including my mom. Up the street lived Ella Plumbley, her livingroom had a huge bay window. On one wall perpendicular to the huge window was a full mirror, mirror tiles that covered the whole wall. She would sit in her chair opposite the mirror. She had a full view up and down the street. She watched everything that went on.
My mom was totally concerned with what the neighbors thought, christ it was sooooooooooo annoying!
It's just what people do and it probably has alot to do with religion. Watching and judging others.

The entire shtick of most religions is shaming as many as possible into uniformity of thoughts and actions! So much easier for those at the top to control. If you can control the natural sexual urges of people by making them feel guilty for having them, you can control almost anything.

@Barnie2years A major part of theist religion, is the business of so called forgiveness of sin, over which they claim a, quite unnatural, monopoly. And if you want to maximize your forgiveness business, then you need to maximize guilt.

So anything that can be contrived to be a sin, is good fodder for guilt, however far you have to push the logic, until ultimately all of life is a sin, and the only thing not a sin, is wishing and working for the next life, over which the church also claims a monopoly. And eventually if they are successful everyone is obsessed with sin.

I saw opinion, no fact in this article.

The fact is that it is opinion. "Research suggests"...... Theories are opinions that take in data but have no concrete proof. Thusly our species speculate which can lead to confirmation or dismissal.

Or interpretation.

True perhaps to a degree. But I think that it credits peoples prejudices with far too much logic, even if it is twisted logic. Sexual issues can be and often are, quite difficult and complex, a simple them and us attitude therefore, indulges the twin basic human passions for narcissism and laziness. No issues to resolve, it is all their fault, and we are morally better.

good article

All of the pieces fit together, and it explains all of the religious right and conservative culture war policies. Gay marriage and birth control are next on the list, like Thomas said, and we need to believe him on it.
