Because almost everyone in congress is owned by the oligarchs who run those companies, and also because almost everyone in congress long ago quit caring about anything but themselves, their spouses, and their children getting rich off their power, influence, and contacts in congress, both during and after their political careers. And because most of the voters are too dumb to see that or care that both major parties are the same on this, and to instead start voting for third party and independent candidates, instead of the bought members of the duopoly..
Unfortunately....voting for an independent party candidate is almost guaranteed to be a ''wasted'' vote.
@LucyLoohoo Only if the majority of voters keep supporting the duopoly, instead of collectively waking up and throwing out both major parties. You might want to start listening to some classic Bob Marley, as in his lyric, "Emancipate yourselves, from mental slavery"... Best definition ever of the herd sticking with voting only within the duopoly....
To me, the truly most wasted vote is voting, knowingly, for someone and something, that you no longer believe in or support, knowing you will never get what you want from that candidate, and kidding yourself that it will make any difference. Better to either not vote at all or vote for what you actually want, even if you don't get it.
Because this has become a nation led by oligarchs?
