More material to consider in regard to current America.
"All this was inspired by the principle, which is quite true in itself, that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."

"He is a master of the art of propaganda. Ludecke writes:
"'He has a matchless instinct for taking advantage of every breeze to raise a political whirlwind. No official scandal was so petty that he could not magnify it into high treason; he could ferret out the most deviously [unreadable] corruption in high places and plaster the town with the bad news.' (159)
"His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

Yes, perhaps, psychology, or sociology, but these are connected to philosophy. The BIG lie might have special traction because it might have a strong emotional impact, being so outrageous. Things with strong emotional impact register with the limbic system, before the higher brain systems register them.
Good political post. I do see the parallels you are implying. Perhaps you would get a better response posting this in the politics group or Trump Pinata group.
His second wife states that trump had a copy of Mein Kamph on his bed stand. trump has studied and initiated Hitler's system and it seems to be working. We often ask how could this have happened in Germany. Now we know. Please don't let it happen here.
There is one of my answers. Not surprising details unfortunately.
