Just wanted give everyone a heads up. Yesterday I updated the group rules. Please make sure you check it out, located at the top of the group main page. Thanks.
In view of SkotlandSkye's reply, I'm assuming that posts clearly intended to be humorous will still be allowed - even we archaeologists and anthropologists like a joke, after all. However, this group does seem to attract a vast amount of "alternative archaeology/hidden history" pseudo-scientific woo, so I appreciate this change and hope it will turn the group into what it was intended to be.
@Aivery Good! I'll probably be visiting this group far more frequently from this point onwards, in that case. When you first set it up I though "Ooh! That'll be interesting!" but there tended to be so conspiracy stuff here I got bored and wandered off. Here's to a better, more scientific and enlightened future!
@Aivery I actually have a certain weakness for and appreciation of cleverly constructed, well-thought-out woo - the sort that takes actual facts and puts a different spin on them to come up with a crazy bullshit conclusion. The kind that's based on "making stuff up and pretending it's true", which accounts for 99% of all so-called alternative archaeology, is a very different matter, however.
That's interesting. I usually post it in a snarky manner....never to be taken seriously (in many places and groups, not just in here -- I actually don't recall specifically posting anything in here). I do the same with Bigfoot, the Moth Man, and Nessie....etc.
So....my question is....does this no longer allow for having a sense of humor?
@Aivery Got it! Ok! thanks!
