Last one for the night.....
These are two exciting finds from today. The moth is the summer form of one I posted earlier in the year. It's called Scythris sinensis, and it's an Asian invasive (that, fortunately, feeds solely on an invasive plant). This is the moth that earned me my 15 minutes of fame, as I was the first person to report it in the US. The spring form lacks the beautiful, yellow, spots on the wings. The second pic, the beetle, is one I've never encountered before. It's all over the clematis, and it's wreaking havoc on the flowers, but this is the first year I've ever seen it. It's a species of blister beetle. I had to do some digging in bugguide.net for an ID. It's Epicauta funebris, the margined blister beetle. So neat!!
