My buddy and I traveled to Union County today to find a copperhead for me to photograph. We hiked about 7 miles along Penn's Creek and didn't see a single copperhead. We did, however, find 5 wood turtles, 3 snapping turtles, 3 rattlesnakes, a black ratsnake, 2 watersnakes, two gartersnakes, a 5-lined skink, and lots of amazing insects and birds. I have a lot of photos to share, but I need to do some organizing first. In the meantime, here's my favorite snake of the day: a spectacular, freshly-shed, black phase timber rattler.
Looks like you got pretty close, much braver than I.

Posted by InsectraA cute grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor) that I found in my birch tree, this afternoon. His camouflage was great and I only discovered him when I heard him calling.
