Before I moved to the Pacific Northwest, I live in Los Angeles. I sometimes worked on the Warner Brothers Studios lot. I was told about the Ferrel cats that are on the back lot, which I mostly saw when i was woiking on "The West Wing", because the studio where it shot was pretty far back on the lot. Someone who did not like cats decided to pay to have them all trapped and shipped to the Humane Society. In less than a week the studio, which is right next to the Los Angeles river, was over run with rats, and they ended up paying again to bring all the cats back.
For thos who don't know the very back of Warner Brothers lot is thick with plants and jungle like, which is why the cats hang out there.
I'm happy to hear they brought the cats back. But one would think that people would realize that cats have been offering their mousing skills for millenia in exchange for shelter and some loving, on the cats terms of course. They do a great job at keeping the rodent population under control.
