I remember my mom voting for Goldwater when I accompanied her to the voting booth as a child. My mom was raised atheist, but attended Catholic school and married into my dad's Catholic family. I remember hearing lots of arguments about the various republican candidates between my parents and my aunt and uncle who were super religious over the years when I was a youngster. Even though they were all republicans, they had to make a rule not to discuss religion or politics at family gatherings, as things would get so contentious!

I'd say they already have control of the GOP and much of SCOTUS too
