Religion may have served an admirable, ancient, purpose, giving societies something around which to congeal, but it has been toxic ever since, imho. It has, apparently, always lead to an "us" and "them," and violent, dialectic.

Religion is inherently bad; it requires absolute lies, indoctrination, and fear-inspiring, to exist. God is neither bad nor not bad, he doesn't exist. Beliefs are quite possibly bad, as they too often oppose &/or interfere with facts, truths, & evidence. Religion having no place in federal, state or local governance, is logical; and supported by evidence of unethical outcomes, when it is permitted.

The constitution is an updatable documentation of evolving laws; hopefully of increasing ethical standards, and more liberal and research & science-supported societal norms. If it were to support religious interference in governance, it would be wrong, & require amendment. That is says otherwise, is just fortunate. But, the constitution doesn't necessarily indicate right & wrong.

Oh my, what a waffle. I'm clearly bored. 😁

I love the "Because the Constitution says so" line, but I can't agree that religion isn't bad.

And religion definitely doesn't belong in government.
