I have three tattoos. First was the hourglass. It was a 40th birthday gift to myself.
Second was the bracelet honoring my Grandma Rose who died suddenly. Out of six grandkids, five of us went together and got tatts. Quite a bonding experience for us.
Third is a composite of two leaves from The Story of Ferdinand. A childhood favorite story and an homage to how my big personality is often misunderstood. This tatt was done at an expo: five hours the first day, and two the following day. I do not recommend having a large piece done this way.
I dunno. I'm not sure I "get" the whole body adornment thing. For piercings ... it took me decades to be ok with ear rings on any one! Tats .... I'm told it's about "individuality" ..... right .... get a tattoo just like everyone else .....
That aside, the tats I can bring myself to admire tend to be lonely things with meaning and not some overly dense mosaic that either has no meaning, or the meanings are so convoluted, there isnt any.
Is this just a personal foible or do others feel this way?
My Groot tat was done at an expo. 7 hours, done in one sitting.
How was your recovery?
