I have this plant taking over an area that I'm glad it's taking over. Unfortunately I can't remember what it is. My plant identification app tells me it might be bugle weed or ajuga but I cannot find an exact match. Do any of my gardener friends know for sure what it is? The 2nd photo has enhanced contrast.
Looks like something in the wild lettuce family. Looks like it's edible, as well. My "plantsnap" app on my phone gave me "Wood Spurge" - but I don't agree...leaves are too "wild-lettuce-like".
Here it is in the right color but with lots more leaves. My soil is very poor and very sandy so I am not surprised at the difference. [chilternseeds.co.uk]
@Lorajay It looks like you found the name of it...and it does look like it's in the sage family. That's a nice salad garnish!
