Thanks to Google lens I was able to identify the new aquatic weed I found down by the lake. If the weather man is right I should soon be able to mow all the way around it down to the edge of the lake. I don't want to mow it down because I think it's ...

Solarizing definitely works killing the vegetation. I hope it lives up to its reputation for killing the seeds as well. I plan to add more gravel to that location but now I'm working on my bar ditch. This late in the season I may never have to weed ...

Growing a few weeds in my garden. This is the common Orange Hawkweed, Hieracium aurantiacum, or Fox and Cubs, for obvious reasons. It may only be a wild weed, but it does make a show.

I am glad that Wasilla banned plastic grocery bags... but what do you do with all of the paper sacks that you saved? I put them down in my garden and cover with mulch for weed control. This is my Gooseberry bed.

My latest project. My third and most recent amateur masonry project. My garden soil is horrendously dense clay with abysmal drainage. And grapes can't grow in such soil, I am told. I just bought my first muscadine, a self-fertile variety of deep ...

Some time ago the electrical company dug up my driveway entrance to bury a cable. They covered everything with gravel. Some time later a 'weed' erupted which I wanted to pull but always forgot. Then it bloomed and a close friend who came by to help ...

Seeing how healthy this kale looked the other night I stripped a few leaves to add to my evening soup. It was very tender. The recent rain has not only brought on many of the plants but also I notice weed in the bottom left of the pot. Gives a nice ...

I encourage quite a lot of wildflowers in the garden. This is a favourite, even though some people think of it as a weed. Orange Hawk Weed, or Fox And Cubs, Hieracium brunneocroceum. It gives me no trouble and looks great at about a foot high. The ...

Weed and grass killer tip... vinegar. A neighbor noticed some grass was working it's way between my pavers and said that pouring or spraying with plain old vinegar would kill them as it's an acid. Very inexpensive too, $2 a gallon. So I tried it. I ...

Wild gardening is more my style than prim and proper English gardening with everything labeled in neat, weed free rows. Weeding is mainly done with an electric weed trimmer and a bit of hand pulling for the really tough cases. The aliums are ...

I moved here a year ago and other than trees I have a blank canvas. Having gone overboard in the past I'm limiting myself a bit. I built four planter boxes 4' x 1' x 1' for annuals that I don't have to weed. I have another bed about 15' x 2' for ...
