I wonder how common trans gender folks will be in the next decades. As a kid from the 90s, I recall just being gay was kind of new and usually vilified. It's amazing how much progress we've made toward respecting each other.
And it is somehow necessary to point out someone's sexual orientation?
Or in this case, gender identity. But depending on how you look at it, it IS greatly needed to hold up positive role models for a demographic that is still widely demonized, scoffed at and dismissed as rediculous. I for one was happy to hear about her accomplishment.
In a time when the president leads in hate mongering rhetoric, it is important to highlight positive role models to show those beign singled out for hate can be and are a positive influence in our society
