I have been out as bisexual for years. All sorts of thoughts went through my head, from "how can I tell my family?", "what will their reaction be?" to more deeper questions, especially the thought of how I would accept myself. Much to my surprise, my parents did not react with anger but with understanding and love. Despite this acceptance, it took me a solid 2 years to accept myself.

I am also bisexual. I’m so happy for you and your family that you can share that.
I knew at a young age and hated that part of me because of the religion I was born/raised in. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I could claim it for myself. I’m not open with many people about it, not that I’m ashamed, but I’m just a private person. I could never tell my parents but I’m ok with that.

I can't relate even though I'm bi. I knew art age 9-10 . Having family accept me, not even

My husband knew he was bi for a long time, probably a decade before he fully accepted it. It took me accepting it for him to let go of his internalized shame.

Acceptance is a beautiful thing.

Has he acted on his bisexual feelings? I'm curious how that affected your relationship. Not trying to be nosy, but have some personal interest.

@climaction23 he has acted on, before we met and after. We are polyamorous, have a bf together. He's also involved with our bf and his husband (who is gay 100%).

It’s several years for me, and I still struggle to accept myself. But it’s much better than denial. Just stay around people who accept and support you ?

Life is a journey full of discovery and acceptance for all people. I'm glad your parents were more open minded than mine. I know mine would react just the opposite of yours. Only one person knows off this web site that I'm gay.

I speak from personal experience. Once one accepts oneself, it's extremely freeing. I've never had a problem coming out to my family/friends, but I struggled with who I was in this regard. Once I finally accepted that yes, I'm bisexual, I felt so much better. I hope that you feel better now as well.

That's actually great. Some take much longer. I'm glad your situation was positive. Congrats!
