I heard there was another mass shooting in the gun-controlled "paradise" of California that of which at last count had left ten dead and at least ten injured. The shooter appears to be a seventy-two year old Chinese immigrant, and it appears the weapons he used weren't even legal to own in the state of California (not that laws ever stop criminals), and to top it off there's evidence that Mister Tran suffered from mental anguish/illness.

That aside, what's the first thing we hear??? You guessed it, "gun violence" and we need more of the same useless laws in order to solve the problem. No mention of expanding mental healthcare services of the like, it's always about those dreadful guns which curiously enough were already banned in that state (by the way California leads the way in mass shooting events, regardless of their laws) to begin with.

From the article I'll link to below- "The sheriff said the victims are five females and five males and are probably of Asian descent, but authorities are still working to identify them. Ten more people were injured, and seven victims are still hospitalized, Luna said. The sheriff said California has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. “We need to reexamine what we’re doing,” he said." Sounds like a reasonably intelligent Sheriff there who realizes more of the same isn't/won't work, and the politicians in that state would be wise to take what he said into deeper consideration and maybe do something more constructive than dream up new equally redundant laws...

I live a couple of miles away, and am often across the street from the dance club where the shootings took place to eat and shop in what is normally a bustling small business district surrounded by typically quiet neighborhoods, including my own. Sure, we have issues like everywhere else: crime (mostly property crimes), a few street gangs in the rougher areas, and some ethnic tensions/prejudices, many having roots in the “old country” from which folks came. Still, on the whole, it’s a great place to live.
