What are we going do? there is something wrong with this country. We have white people calling the cops on blacks for the dumbest reasons. The idiot in the Whitehouse has no respect for anybody or anything, lies about shit that doesn't matter anybody but him and does shit that large groups of people ask him not do, he does it anyway. he is obsessed with 3% of the population, most of whom are the most law abiding people in this country.

It feels like we are just angry, and arguing with each other a whole lot more now than we used too. How in the hell can anybody support that fuck-up, and how in the hell are we going to get rid of same said idiot, before he turns the whole country upside down.

We do have a system and we have to work it. Otherwise, we may have to face a serious economical downturn which can and will lead to a violent uprising. Remember a lot of crazies are armed and stupid. Not a good recipe.

We can get rid of a president during the next elections. I think that what we see now has been boiling for a long time already. It only comes up now because of the political situation. People start protesting and organizing. They will use small issues and blow it out of proportions. It's time to grow up and work together towards a better society. We don't need a republican or democrat for that. There is too much devision between those parties. Let's hope we can get an independent candidate who can appeal to everyone and find a common ground.

If I had to make a movie about what is going on in America I would title it the rise of the Redneck Nation. I really did think that most of the Rednecks we're in the south, now I believe that it's over taking our country.

I think we are all at the end of our wits with everything happening in this country. Dialog has stopped. It is a nastiness culture that is underwritten from the top down. I believe it started when Obama was President and guys like Mitch McConnell went on the offensive. Hell, we've been dealing with Trump ever since his birther comments and when he found he had an audience for that he just kept it up. Millions voted for a guy who made racial slurs, made fun of disabled people, spoke trash about McCain, made vulgar comments about women. People voted for a foul mouthed bully because somehow it made them feel strong. Getting rid of Trump is only the tip of the ice berg. We have to somehow, as a society get rid of that mind set.

@kenriley Thank you and yes we do

I know I am not alone in having psychological issues. A lot of people are feeling depressed and I often wonder how much of the present opioid problem is because of how we see our country heading. A long time ago I got a hold of a wonderful book titled "The World of Yesterday" [books.google.com] Read the short synopsis about when the book was delivered to the publishers. Here was a famous artists (playwright and author) who knew a lot of famous people, Freud, Rodan, Strauss and on and on. The book was uplifting and funny. However, during the war he and his wife fled to S. America and they both eventually committed suicide because they thought the Nazis were taking over the world.

@JackPedigo I agree that there are anxiety and depression issues related to the state of our country and drug issues could also potentially be linked in some cases. I never thought it could get this bad this quickly. If we do not have a blue wave in Nov I honestly do not know if I want to stay here

@AmelieMatisse The thing is we can't leave and where would we/you go? Things might seem worse for you considering where you are but, here, we do still have power and a decent lifestyle (some anyway - Seattle has become a nightmare for people trying to find a place to live).

@JackPedigo I have a thing about the Algarve region of Portugal. But I know if our dollar shrinks in foreign currency I couldn't do it

@AmelieMatisse I am going to be honest with my feelings on this but they are just mine and not to be personal. Right now there are thousands/millions of people fearing for their lives. Thousands/millions more have serious economic or environmental issues. It will be impossible for all these people to find a place. What's worse is this number is going to grow, exponentially. I feel my/our problems are minor compared to these and could not live with myself thinking I have displaced someone else who has serious issues. Plus, there are places in this country that are much better off than others.

@AmelieMatisse After sending my reply I was in our library and in the new book section saw a book "Getting Out - Your guide to leaving America" by Mark Ehrman [amazon.com]

@JackPedigo thanks for the info. I bet the book will be a best seller

@AmelieMatisse Just so you know (which you might already) I was once an expat. Went to Germany for a summer and decided to stay (15 years). Did the paperwork and obtained a residence permit. It was not easy but, being an American, it was a lot easier than for some other nationalities. This is how I learned our nationality often makes it unfair for others wishing to flee.
