The Reality of the "Honest and Noble Sport" of Hunting.... [healthylifeboxx.com]
I started a post a minute ago about a comment from someone that mass killings are almost always perpetrated by males. Why is that, I wondered. I don't buy the arguement that a subset of men is sent into a homicidal rage by their lack of social connection and sexual success. Not that those aren't factors but similarly frustrated women don't shoot up schools and churches. Nor do I buy that women are naturally nicer. There are plenty of examples in history and other cultures of women habitually committing horrors.
I think, if instead of figuring out why gun violence exists, it would more productive to figure why it scarcely does with women as perpetrators.
I'm the opposite on the big game hunter outrage. Sure they are assholes but they are also the biggest funding source that keeps any form of protection for the wildlife and habitat.
Read your "lame excuse" three times. Noticed funding for protection against a Calamity you caused in the First Place... Great!!! So Humane of You... Bravo!!!
@GipsyOfNewSpain Big game hunters aren't causing mass extinction. Habitat loss is. And poaching due to poverty of local people. I'm good with a rich guy giving a a wildlife refuge a couple hundred grand to kill one animal. That's how those things work. Then the refuge can pay to protect the land from destruction and poaching. Those are poor countries with bigger problems and no one else is putting up money.
In many cases the the animals need "culling" because you can't pack the whole wildlands animals all together like that certain ones start to cause problems and kill all the other ones. Rather than pay for their own bullets the rangers let someone pay them alot of money to kill the animal for them.
Since they are not the ones causing extinction mabey you are mad that they are killing animals at all? is it the same for deers? cows? If your not a vegetarian you have no stance there.
If it is extinction you are worried about I hope you get just as upset about people who eat nutella. That does cause extinction.
I clicked through on this post because I saw you posted it and I usually like what you have to say. I don't agree this time. sorry. I do feel that it is a somewhat educated opinion that I have put some thought into not a "lame excuse". I prefer hard realistic truths rather than outrage over baby animal pictures.
@MsAl I am a Beef Lover.... I eat Meat... I don't eat for Sport... But If You are Game... I will Hunt your Ass with just a Knife... except I had never Hunt or Fish... to eat or for trophy... Why start now? When Humans are Worried about Population Expanding... What we do? We Start a New War. I am just against all forms of Hunting or Fishing... Big or Small. Expensive or Cheap. Trophy or Eating. So Ellitist of you to justify the Rich throwing money to a Poor Country for the Honor and Thrill of Killing a Wild Animal. Remember when your teenagers were just babies... how defenseless they were? Same with Baby Elephants despite their Size. Any Mother of any Specie will tell you.
@GipsyOfNewSpain Much love but I still disagree with you. I don't like trophy hunting in general. I think it is gross. I do think it ironically does more good in the world than harm.
As far as your take on hunting or fishing in general (like for food) vs store bought beef. That I disagree wholly on another level with you. The modern meat production system is one of the most inhumane disgusting things that ever existed. It is not more morally correct to eat prekilled beef. It just means you look the other way and let someone else do your dirty work. Not to mention it is the biggest contributor to Climate Change.
Hunting deer for venison is necessary where I live. There isn't enough land for them and we extincted all the natural big predators that used to hunt them. They cannot have a natural healthy population without human intervention. I don't generally like gun people especially these days but that aspect of it I have almost zero problems with. I don't eat much venison because I don't hunt myself and don't keep company with Republicans but that specifically is more responsible than eating beef.
I am not perfect. I too eat beef. Me and my kids practically live off McDonalds
and boneless skinless chicken breast and I am not proud of that. I'm not going to act like I am better because I let other people kill the animals for me or because they were raised on meat farms that are cruel and the biggest contributions to climate change. That doesn't make sense.
I love a good debate but please come at me with facts and arguments don't talk about cutting me with knives or bring my kids into it. That's bad practice.
@MsAl See? When you feel threated... suddenly you are experiencing what animals in the wild feel when a hunter is in their habitat... their home looking for a thrill. Same when your offsprings are brought into play... same with all animals of this earth. Thank You for proving my point.
