When the album Heart of the Moon came out, featuring the collaboration of the two great Mali musicians Ali Farke Toure and Toumani Diabate, it consumed my music listening for quite some time. To this day if I'm out working in the garden and one of these come on I sometimes just stop what I'm doing and get carried away again. Most are instrumental only with Toure on guitar and Toumani on an African harp. I can't imagine this hasn't been discussed here before but it deserves to be played again regardless.
This other video is from a documentary showing the musicians playing and voicing over how they met and the regard each had for the other. Nice to get the look of their stage dress and mannerisms but they just obliterate that amazing music.
I kept on waiting for the first piece to get going.
Odd, starts at the 3 second mark for me. My big complain with youtube is how low the volume is on so many videos.
Beautiful sound....thanks for posting, Nice to get the explanatory text too.
