I have to confess that I've always had a soft spot for the Geordies. This just encountered clip of a flash mob clog dancing about 8 years ago in Newcastle, England, had the tears running down my face. Loved the swords.
Hat off to all involved.
This is new to me. I always thought clog dancing was from Ireland.
No way. Bloody Irish will claim anything is theirs!
My father wore Lancashire clogs till he was 28 & all his life stated that they were the most comfortable footwear that he ever had. He said that the wooden soles were individually hand made and carved to the shape of the shape of his foot using a 6' draw blade / guillotine.

And this article sadly misses the importance of ankle support talking as it does of slip on clogs:

@FrayedBear Interesting, my late partner had a pair (I think they are still around) like the ones in the 2nd link. Reminds me of a funny story. I once lived in a 300+ year old house in the old city of Heidelberg Germany. There was a flight of wooden stairs to the 2nd floor. One evening I and a British friend were sitting in his downstairs apartment when the upstairs neighbor's young, energetic girlfriend came running down the stairs. She was wearing wooden clogs and going down a wooden staircase. She came bursting in the room and asked if she could come in. The friend said, yes but she would have to leave her horse outside. She didn't like that answer and left.
@JackPedigo humourless bitch or just German?
@FrayedBear Young, blonde, German. She did have a sense of humor but typical German humor. Of course her name was Helga. We did not get along but this was purely more an age difference than a cultural one. I liked most Germans and loved living there.
Very entertaining. These flash mobs are becoming less spontaneous and more planned than they used to be...quite a lot of rehearsing went into this event! Good way of promoting and recruiting !
