OAKS - Latvian 'Suiti community' wives, men, guys, with Auli, Ilža, Otto Trapāns, Tarkšķi and Vilkači. This is a beautiful traditional song dedicated to OAKS and a very well accomplished video. The music and visuals are both so good!
very emotive... love the bag pipes thanks for sharing
Wonderful! A-1. 100%. Posted to wastelook. Bunch of woodland hippies!
Very interesting..the music sounds very akin to Celtic music, complete with bagpipes ...and the plaid shawls are almost the same as Scottish Tartan. As it’s now known that the Celts originated in the Upper reaches of the river Danube and more than likely migrated north to the Baltic and then travelled west into the North Sea and round the western perimeter of Europe as far south as the Iberian peninsula, it’s entirely possible that the Suiti were part of that Celtic migratory route.
Absolutely!
Oaks, oaks,
Your big huge oaks:
The sun was setting for three days,
Could not overflow.
Oaks, oaks,
Your large ones:
Three days partridge flowed,
Could not overflow.
Oaks, oaks,
Your great 'greatness' :
The daughters came singing,
Wreaths branches broken.
Oaks, oaks,
Your great age:
I was born, I found you
I will die you will stay.
Meetings, children of John,
Under a thick oak tree;
Under a large oak tree,
There Jānītis place of honor...
