I’m off tomorrow morning on a few days break...driving down the west coast of Ireland. I thought I’d post this beautiful song by Mary Black, which is an old favourite of mine. It contains the words - “living on your western shore ...I stood by your Atlantic Sea and sang a song for Ireland”.... quite beautiful! Well I’ll be on those western shores until the end of this week. - Song For Ireland.

It takes me away to childhood and the many times I went to Dingle to visit Doctor Horgan, an old friend of my mother. Dingle and Tralee, Inch Strand were holidays I remember back to 1955, likely before. I remember my father getting my brother and I up out of his army bell tent because we had a river flowing through and the tent was liable to collapse with the wind. My brother later lived in Ballyferriter. So often I went there. I also usually sing the West Coast of Clare.
