Today we’re in Scotland, the country of my birth, on the Kyle of Lochalsh and the most beautiful and picturesque Eilean Donan Castle to be exact...with The Piano Guys and a mashup piece which incorporates the traditional songs Scotland The Brave and Amazing Grace with Fight Song by Rachel Platten. The result is fantastically stirring stuff for a Scot!
I couldn't decide about this. The location I know and love. I've camped there. The piano was skillful and not too dis-similar from how I play but I did not think suitable. The cello was rather downplayed.
Suitable for what...the music, the venue? I find some of your remarks very hard to understand.
@Marionville Sorry. Suitable for the music. The venue did not matter. It is just lovely. I guess I mean it was not nearly as Scottish music as the location was Scottish. The pipes just had a sort of John Bull atmosphere.
@rogerbenham it was partially Scottish music...I suppose it was the location more than the music which drew me to it....although the inclusion of the local pipe band I liked ...a lot of modern tunes are performed by pipe bands and I don’t mind that. It was just a crossover and amalgam of genres and cultures...but there’s no harm in that.
@Marionville Ah, but I never said that there was harm. I liked the fusion of folk and rock initiated by Steeleye Span but I've never been that keen on the fusion of pop and classical as initiated by Jacques Lousier. As always, chacun a son gout.
