Today I’m posting a really well known musician - Mark Knopfler who was the founder with his brother David of the 70/80s rock band Dire Straits with which he attained international fame and success. After the band disbanded in 1995 he has continued with great success as a composer and solo artist. Mark was born in Glasgow but grew up in Newcastle on Tyne and is always thought of as a “Geordie” as his music often draws on that region for inspiration. In this song - Wherever I Go. - he teams up with singer/songwriter Ruth Moody from the opposite end of the compass Australia, but who is best known as being one third of the Canadian folk trio “The Wailin’ Jennys”. Quite an international collaboration then I think you’ll agree!
This is wonderful. No surprise for me as I have long regarded Mark Knopfler as easily one of the best musicians in the pop world.
Location? I was guessing Newfoundland.
Yes...I agree about him, a real talent. Could certainly be Newfoundland from what I have seen from images of it.
Yes...I’m not a country fan, but there are certain country type songs that I do like.
@Marionville That goes for me as well. I went through my CW period when I moved to Texas 35 years ago, but then I became more selective in which styles I prefer.
