Song Of Ocarina was a big hit in France for Jean-Philippe Audin (cello) & Diego Modena (ocarina) in 1991.
The ocarina is an ancient woodwind musical instrument, a type of flute or pipe, a form of which is believed to date back to over 12,000 years. Variations have been found in archaeological sites from a variety of locations throughout the world and on most continents, both the Mayan and the Aztec cultures were known to have such instruments. The modern European ocarina that we are familiar with today dates back to 19th century Italy, when Giuseppe Donati transformed it from an instrument of a few notes to a fully chromatic one and gave it its name ...ocarina being Italian for “little goose”.
Beautiful....very drawn to this sound.
Yes...I thought you’d really like it.
@Marionville Love it, & will definitely listen again.
It has a haunting wistful sound. Very much associated with South America.
Yes...similar to the sound of pan pipes.
What, join a group that would have me as a member? That would be too kind.
Don’t be such a Grouch ‘o’....it’s my group I’m inviting you!
I can't tag, but who knew that the ocarina looks like a cross between an antiquarian musicologists flute and a hair drier. Delta could dry her nails with it before hitting the piano.
Why don’t you just join the group and then you can comment as much as you like? Yes...it is a curious looking instrument...kinda like a misshapen pot-pourri container!
Embouchure to remember that.
I bet Delta Goodrem plays a mean ocarina!
