Celtic traditional fiddle music was taken from Scotland with the immigrants to North America, and it took particular hold in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, where they developed a particular fiddle playing traditional of their own. Here Cape Breton supergroup Coig perform a medley of tunes at the Celtic Colours International Festival in 2017.

My parents had dance music on '78's which includes Scottish reels and I have loved since I first could use the gramaphone. In time my favourite to dance was the Eightsome Reel.

All our school dances were of the Scottish reel type...and strathspeys and two-steps too of course!
It's also the music of origin for Appalachian bluegrass.

It sounds really Scottish to me!
@Marionville It does to me too, but here in Canada, Scottish is very influential. Bagpipes are always at formal ceremonies of all sorts as well.
