Yesterday in a different music group a theme emerged of music inspired by the birdsong and flight of “the lark”… this song by Russian composer Mikhail Glinka sprung to my mind, and I thought I’d post it here in World Music. It’s called The Lark and it’s being sung by acclaimed Russian soprano Galina Vishnevskaya.
What a beautiful voice!
Yes…she was held in very high esteem in the 60s & 70s and eventually she and her husband, celebrated cellist, Mstislav Rostopovich eventually we’re allowed to travel to the USA where they remained.
@Marionville Glad they made it out of Russia!!
Sounds rather sad to me. The piano came closest to representing the larks trilling high in the sky.
Yes…but this was written for the voice.
