I’ve visited many of the Mediterranean Islands, but I’ve never been to Corsica. I was interested to hear this patriotic folk song sung in the Corsican language by Petra Guelfucci, which sounds like a dialect of Italian and not the French I expected. Of course although today Corsica is French it has had a chequered ownership over the centuries, lying closer to the Italian coast than to France it was one time ruled by the Italian Republic of Genoa, before being ceded to France in 1768.

Nice, beautiful scenics too.

Yes…it’s very rugged and mountainous.

@Marionville Lots of mountains here in BC, so I love mountain scenes.

Les Aiguilles - The Needles. My parents had a holiday there taking us two youngest. Flight Nice to Ajaccio then in a Deux Chervaux bumping over passes to a tourist hotel where I encountered a bidet for the first time and used it incorrectly.Might have been '58 , '59 or '60.
Prostitutes on street corners in Nice. Men drinking huge containers of beer. Visit to Les Aiguilles. I said something wrong and my mother cried. Could of been that I did not love the smell of peat burning (I do now). Sunny days. Simple holiday. Stepped on a prickly sea thing.

Memories Roger…we have a lifetime of them!

@Marionville Yes, people urge me to write a book but I prefer going for walks. There are far too many books anyway.
