It’s a beautiful song which I love - and this cover version is almost as good as the orginal by a-ha….well that’s as far as I’m going to admit because nobody’s voice can possibly quite match Morten Harket’s, but these two come close. Espen Lind & Kurt Nilsen - Stay On These Roads, live at Oslo Spektrum, 2006.
Espen Lind & Kurt Nilsen indeed have a lovely sound together. The first singer is really good. Really liked the second pair. The third version was pretty good though I felt we needed much more of the female singer.
It’s not a duet …in this case, she’s only a backing singer, hence not meant to have a prominent role. The piano accompaniment is important in this version, as the piano run was intended as a feature of the song. The pianist and the guitarist co-wrote the song, and it was tailor-written to fit the band’s vocalist’s vocal range.
@Marionville Sorry but easily I liked the Espen Lind & Kurt Nilsen version best.
@rogerbenham Glad you liked the song…Espen and Kurt did a great job with it.
Loved all three of these, but of course I love Morten the best!
Goes without saying really doesn’t it! 🥰
@Marionville Yes! Morten is just so good!!!
@Redheadedgammy She sighs as she says YES he is!!
