Earth Affair is a collaborative group of musicians from across Northern Europe and Scandinavia and is the brainchild of Icelandic percussionist and composer Gulli Briem. Here his composition Jewels Up High is used to accompany a short film by fellow Icelander Sigurjon Einarsson who now works mainly in Norway, called “A Name Is A Name”. This music and film are typically filled with Scandinavian melancholy and bleakness which is a reflection of the characteristics of people living in a natural landscape of remoteness.

Pretty dark, depressing. Lacking joy. Bleak landscapes certainly do not restrict to gloomy music as shown by highland Scotland or Newfoundland.
