Yesterday’s post of German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk by @Reignmond got me thinking about other German bands of note including this one which has a big international following….Rammstein. They made this music video for the release of their 7th studio album and the single from it which is titled Deutchland. It was very controversial and drew a lot of criticism for its content depicting certain Germanic historical events from Roman invasion and mixed through with others up to present day…including WW1 & 2, Nazification & the Holocaust, and the division and reunification of Germany since 1945. German actress Ruby Commey appears portraying “Germania” throughout this historical pageant of a video. This song charted at #1 in Germany, Hungary & Switzerland, and it reached top 5 in Austria and Finland in 2019.

Horrors and horrors and horrors. Where is the beauty? Violence and more violence. I'm glad I saw it early in my day. The music went across ignored by the horrors depicted.

I did sort of try to warn you!
I liked the music, couldn’t figure out if they were denigrating all the horrors shown on the video or not.

My apologies to you…I couldn’t remember where I first saw and heard this song and video by Rammstein. Of course it was here in this group when you posted it back in February ! Oh well…it’ doesn’t do any harm to give it a second airing and the explanatory video you posted helps in understanding it.
