This morning the critics are slating 80s band Duran Duran after their terrible performance last night at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert in London…calling their performance after Andrea Bocelli’s Nessum Dorma, as akin to “having Steak followed by Spam”! Duran Duran, who are one of this year’s inductees into The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame …”their Simon Le Bon gave a shouty out of tune rendition of two of their more mediocre 80s songs” and once again I’m paraphrasing the critics, but I do agree with every word - “think Duran Duran were overrated in the 80s and are long past it now 40 years later”.
I do love Andrea Bocelli of course, and Nessun Dorma is a favourite aria from Puccini’s Turandot, however I do think on the occasion of celebrating QEII’s 70 years on the British throne they could’ve asked our own superb Russell Watson to sing this one last night…..
