Apart, that is, even from the notional idea of a God looking down on it all, I wish that was the only unrealistic thing about the song.
Btw…I know Ms Gold wrote the song, but Bette Midler does it best.

I have been singing it ever since hearing Bette singing it. Yes she does it better. It is one of my most likely to perform but I omit all the God looking on stuff and I change Every Man to Everyone.
Bear in mind that I've been a pacifist since Aldermaston days in the early sixties.
