A post in a different music group yesterday reminded me of this song by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov which I have always really loved. It’s a challenging piece which only sopranos of the highest calibre are up to performing well, and Aida Garifullina certainly meets that challenge and high calibre .

This is beautiful.

Yes…I love it. I have posted a version on Cello & piano below for Roger.

@Marionville Yes, it's lovely to listen to as well.

Not sure if I've ever heard it performed by a solo vocalist. I think I prefer it as orchestral and not too loud. She has a fine voice.

Perhaps this Cello/Piano version will be more to your taste…although it is named Vocalise which indicates it’s a piece meant for the voice….I suppose!

@Marionville This is lovely too, & my kind of evening listening.

@Lilac-JadeCanada Exactly.

@Lilac-JadeCanada, @Marionville Thanks.

Wow, she’s certainly got a beautiful soprano voice!! 😍

She’s probably the best operatic soprano in the world…in my opinion.

@Marionville Since I am not Acquainted with music as deeply as you are Marje, I will agree with you. 😘 I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her beautiful voice.
