Biko | Peter Gabriel | Playing For Change | Song Around The World

I remember before the release of Mandela there was a Zulu or Xhosa song calling for revolution but essentially for three leaders with the chorus "Mandela is the one".

I absolutely LOVE the ""Playing for Change" presentations!! This one's especially lovely because it has So. African harmonies. I wish you all could go there and here the music!

Thanks, Roger

In 1969 I went to RSA. Near Durban I saw Zulus singing. I found "Black" radio stations playing 1920 blues style but so real and alive. That was close to the nastiest apartheid times. When a group of Bantu were working as a team they would sing. I got to know 2 Xhosa quite well and greatly admired them.

@rogerbenham It seems to me that harmony singing is something in their GENES! I'm very glad you had that experience, Roger! I was so happy when Paul Simon did projects with South Africans....it gave the world a chance to hear that amazing singing.
