Today we’ve got two suave icons of French Pop from the 1960s & 1970s…dashing, sophisticated Parisian Sacha Distel and Egyptian born smoothie Richard Anthony. Here they appear on French TV together in 1967 performing a medley of their hits…with typically Gaulic charm….
So smooth! And tunes I knew. Francois Hardy sung some of their songs I think.
Yes.. probably!
Both handsome men, and nice voices. Wish I understood French.
I wish the same thing Rhonda…my son Neil speaks fluent French, has a degree in Law and French…
@Marionville Whilst I have lost mine after 48 years in a dual language country. 52 years ago I can remember having a conversation with a group of Marseilles lads in Tunis and fooling that I was from Marseilles for 20 minutes before I had to ask one for a translation. So much for my school French teacher.
@rogerbenham My husband spoke fluent French too..and when we were in a hotel in Montpelier I went to bed and left him having a last drink and conversation with the bartender. In the morning he told me the bartender asked him which part of Belgium he was from! He was surprised when my husband told him he was in fact British, from Belfast….he said he knew he wasn’t French…but thought he was a native French speaker from another French speaking country. Peter said it was the finest compliment he’d ever had!
@Marionville Yes, exactly!
