On this day in 1984 the original Band Aid Charity Single - Do They Know It’s Christmas- was released in the U.K. it was the brainchild of Bob Geldorf lead singer with Irish band Boomtown Rats and Scottish guitarist and lead singer of English rock band Ultravox Midge Ure…who enlisted the help of an all star cast under the banner “Band Aid”.
