Today it’s a pretty cosmopolitan mix with an old traditional fiddle tune which originated in the North of Scotland and first noted down in 1852, but with words added in 1880 by German composer Max Bruch for his Scottish Fantasia for violin & orchestra, opus 46…performed here by Singaporean superstar violinist
Vanessa Mae. - I’m A’Doun For A’Lack O’Johnnie…
I love Vanessa Mae and even have this on CD, yet I'd never seen the video or had the back-story to it, so thank you for rounding that out for me.
I’m happy I posted it then…and that I’m able to fill in the information. I love Vanessa Mae too…she’s such a talent.
Such a beautiful tune!
Yes…it really is quite beautiful!
She's quite wonderful on the violin!! Nice voice as well. Loved the acrobatic dancers!!
Yes…she was a child prodigy on the violin…nice singer too. She also is an Olympic skier…representing Thailand (her mother is Thai) in 2014.
