Today is my late husband Peter’s birthday…he’d have been 77 had he still been here with me. It was interesting that he was not really what you’d call “ into music “, although he was very supportive of me and my musical pursuits…always making sure he was at home on the evenings I needed to be at choir rehearsals or solo performances when the children were young. At least as far as that was possible, and he wasn’t out of the country working overseas at the time. He also came and listened and applauded my concert appearances dutifully…even the more highbrow repertoires which I know were really not what he’d normally have spent an evening listening to by choice! There are however a few pieces of music that he could instantly recognise and even love, and this from The Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar is one of them…so for Peter on his 77th birthday here is Nimrod - performed by The London Symphony Orchestra…
